The Affiliates work to provide a cultural and academic bridge between the University and community. Affiliates provide scholarships to deserving local UCSC students. Affiliate members receive a monthly UCSC calendar of events including special tours, use privileges of the UCSC pool and sports facilities, and use of the libraries.

McHenry Library on campus offers computer and Internet access on the entry-level floor which does not require a username or password, and school policy is to let all members of the public use them for free.
