EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION CENTER

Provides quality care and early education to infant, toddler, and preschool age children.

Referral to mental/behavioral health care if necessary, Promoting parenting efficacy, resilience, attachment, and family bonds, including reducing family violence, Using redirection and de-escalation tactics, Identify local resources that are available for referral for ACE prevention and toxic stress mitigation, ECE curriculum on self-care and self-regulation.

Supportive relationships with patients, caregivers, and family members, Early childhood development support services, Referrals, Referral to other government and social service programs (e.g., for financial, food security, housing, etc.), Create opportunities for mentoring with caring adults (teachers, coaches, mentors), Early intervention services and supports, Parent education regarding child development, Early childhood development enrichment, Early childhood development including preschool enrichment.

Eligibility

The Infant Center serves children ages two weeks to two years. The Early Childhood Education Center (Toddler & Preschool) serves children age two years to entering first grade.

Walnut Avenue Family & Women's Center (Walnut Avenue) is dedicated to improving the quality of life for women, children, and families in Santa Cruz County for over 90 years. As a strength-based family center, Walnut Avenue seeks to improve the economic, physical, and emotional well-being of the individuals and families we serve.

Our service providing programs include Early Education Center, Services for Children & Youth, Services for Survivors of Domestic Violence, Family Support Services, and Community Engagement. Many of the families participating in Walnut Avenue programs are from under-served populations due to poverty, early pregnancy, homelessness, and/or domestic violence.
