SENIOR PROGRAM | DIVERSITY CENTER OF SANTA CRUZ COUNTY

SENIOR PROGRAM

The Diversity Center provides a range of activities to engage LGBTQ+ older adults, including social gatherings, low-impact exercise, and luncheons. Our weekly Wisdom Workshops offer a welcoming space for elders to socialize, play games, receive tech support, attend gentle yoga classes, or connect with staff for additional support. Additional workshop topics include dementia prevention, elder abuse awareness, and ecological practices.

Key Programs:

Wisdom Workshops: A weekly offering for LGBTQ+ and allied older adults. Join us for different learning experiences including writing workshops, low-impact chair yoga, music bingo, special guest presentations, and more.

Rainbow Strollers: A weekly walking group for LGBTQ+ and allied older adults. This activity provides a fun, rewarding, non-judgmental experience for walkers with a focus on appropriate exercise, interaction, companionship, and enjoyment of nature. The walks are longer than 2 miles with breaks.

Men's and Women's Socials: LGBTQ+ men's and women's socials meet every other month starting in February, either at someone's home, for an outing, or at The Diversity Center. The socials are usually for two hours in the afternoon, though the time can vary.

Luncheon Socials: LGBTQ+ and allied older adult luncheons occur in January, April, September, and November. Luncheons feature food, beverages, entertainment, and engaging education on a relevant topic.
