The District administers the Santa Cruz County Hazardous Materials Interagency Team (SCHMIT).

The District offers public CPR classes quarterly and the dates are posted on the District Website.

The District provides a Child Car Seat Inspection Program by appointment only.
Provides law enforcement, crime investigation, detention and corrections services in Santa Cruz County. Also operates an anonymous crime reporting line 24 hours daily. Also recruits and trains volunteers to provide voluntary work at the sheriff's office. Volunteers are trained to do data entry, take crime reports, and to answer citizen's questions, both on the phone and in the centers.
Enforces laws and ordinances and preserves the peace within the city of Santa Cruz. Accepts and processes applications for certain city permits such as alarm registration, one day liquor license, sound amplification permits, special events and taxi car driver permits.
