Santa Cruz City Schools is comprised of an elementary and a high school district, governed by a common Board of Education and a general administrative staff. The district serves students residing in the City of Santa Cruz and in county locations from Davenport to Soquel. There are five schools serving nearly 2,000 students in the elementary district, including a Dual Immersion Program. The secondary district includes two middle schools, three comprehensive high schools, a continuation school, an independent studies program and a home school program with a combined population of approximately 4,660 students.

Administers the following services: Regional Occupational Programs, Santa Cruz County Outdoor School, Santa Cruz County Special Education and Child Development Resource Center. Also administers the Juvenile Hall and Community Schools, Alternative Education Programs, Academic Contests, Teacher Training and Staff Development.
