Local support group provides weekly opportunities for parents and caregivers of youth (under 18) with mental health concerns. Explore ideas and solutions to the problems experienced while managing care for a youth with a mental health condition. Drop-ins welcome.

SPECIAL PARENTS INFORMATION NETWORK (SPIN)

Offers peers support groups, mentor parent program, information and resources to parents who have children with special needs to strengthen and empower their families and the professionals who serve them. Through parent volunteers and paid staff, they provide phone support, information, resource referrals, IEP clinics, educational workshops and networking events. Newsletters are available to download online.

PARENT AND FAMILY COUNSELING | PARENTS CENTER

PARENT AND FAMILY COUNSELING

Provides professional counseling for parents and families. Offers parenting classes and individual and family therapy to work towards reunification when possible and prevent and treat child abuse. Provides counseling services for children who have medi-cal and a mental health diagnosis.

GROWING TOGETHER | GIRLS INC. OF THE CENTRAL COAST

GROWING TOGETHER

Designed to increase positive communication between mothers (or another significant female adult) and their daughters. It helps them discuss questions about sexual behavior and puberty without embarrassment.

Growing Together:
-Allows time for mothers and daughters to explore their feelings, values and expectations.
-Provides participants the opportunity to practice decision-making and problem-solving skills.
-Provides participants the opportunity to learn about open communication, which is an important part of a healthy relationship.
-Provides factual information about the changes girls may experience during puberty.
-Helps parents to answer questions about sexual behavior and puberty without embarrassment.

SURVIVORS HEALING CENTER | FAMILY SERVICE AGENCY OF THE CENTRAL COAST

SURVIVORS HEALING CENTER

Services include therapy groups/survivor support groups for women, men, all-genders, parents of survivors and Latina survivors, workshops on Healing the Brain and the Nervous System, Relationships and Connection, Healing and the Body, Compassionate Communication, Creativity, lending library, information and referrals, special events and a safe place for fellowship and peer support. We also provide training, resources, presentations, and outreach to the community around the issue of child sexual abuse and sexual violence.

ENCOMPASS HEAD START | ENCOMPASS COMMUNITY SERVICES

ENCOMPASS HEAD START

Early Head Start offers a home visiting program for pregnant women and children 0-3, and a center-base option for children 0-3 years. Both programs support children and families during the very first stages of life to build a strong foundation for growth and learning. Services are offered throughout Santa Cruz County, including Watsonville, Freedom, and the San Lorenzo Valley.

Head Start offers a part-day (3 1/2 hours) and extended day (6 hours) preschool programs for children ages 3 to 5. We focus on supporting children and families to be ready for school by providing opportunities for social and emotional growth; focusing on physical, mental, and dental health; and partnering closely with parents and families. Classes are offered at 16 centers located throughout Santa Cruz and Watsonville.

State Pre-K (CSPP) offers high quality early education and support services for eligible children 3-5 and their families.

PARENT TEEN MEDIATION

CRC cultivates peace in the community by providing tools, training, and a guided process for people in conflict. Our services are affordable, confidential, and available to all.

We offer workshops for youth and parents. Gain skills to prevent conflict from escalating. Increase your sense of self-awareness and how you respond to conflict. Learn tools to recognize your emotions and identify your needs so that you can communicate better.

CHILD AND ADOLESCENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES

Provides comprehensive, strengths-based, culturally and linguistically appropriate behavioral health services for Medi-Cal eligible children and youth who have moderate to severe behavioral health needs.

Services include assessment, treatment planning, psychotherapy (individual, family), case management, and psychiatric care (evaluation and medication management). Services delivered at County behavioral health clinic locations, community, or home-based settings, as clinically appropriate.

The Access Team provides 24-hour confidential crisis intervention and referral services (800-952-2335).

Provides substance use disorder prevention, early intervention, and treatment services across the continuum of care.

Community Mediation program helps people solve interpersonal conflicts such as those between family, neighbors, housemates, homeowner associations, and more.

CRC-neutral mediators guide participants through a mediation process that includes identifying problems, clarifying concerns and perspectives, developing options and reaching mutually beneficial agreements.

Designed to increase positive communication between mothers (or another significant female adult) and their daughters. It helps them discuss questions about sexual behavior and puberty without embarrassment.

Growing Together:
-Allows time for mothers and daughters to explore their feelings, values and expectations.
-Provides participants the opportunity to practice decision-making and problem-solving skills.
-Provides participants the opportunity to learn about open communication, which is an important part of a healthy relationship.
-Provides factual information about the changes girls may experience during puberty.
-Helps parents to answer questions about sexual behavior and puberty without embarrassment.
