CARE (Campus Advocacy, Resources & Education) serves the UC Santa Cruz community by providing free and confidential support to those impacted by sexual assault, intimate partner/domestic violence, stalking, or sexual harassment. CARE offers prevention education training and works collaboratively with campus communities to create a culture of respect and empowerment.

The Family & Children's Services Kinship program is the temporary placement of children in a safe, nurturing family environment with relatives or extended family members, when their parents cannot care for them. If possible, foster children are returned to their birth families, or through adoption, placed permanently with another family. Kinship care provides 24-hour care until the child can be reunited with his/her parents or adopted by another family. The new center provides a 50-bed residential program for women with life-controlling issues like drug & alcohol addiction in the Teen Challenge multi-month program, plus 42 beds for homeless and at-risk women and women with children on a day-to-day basis.
