TRANSITION AGE YOUTH

The Family & Children's Services Transition Age Youth (TAY) program serves current and former foster youth age 15-24 with a range of services to assist youth in making a healthy transition to adulthood. Programs include counseling, skill-building, a drop-in center and subsidized supportive housing.

TAY programs include:
. The Independent Living Program (ILP) serves current and former foster and probation placement youth age 15-21. It assists youth to develop independent living skills to successfully transition to self-sufficiency and includes services such as one-on-one counseling, assistance in obtaining ID cards, driving permits and licenses and workshops on topics that assist youth in achieving personal, education and vocational goals.
. The Transitional Housing Program is a supportive housing program for former non-minor dependents and foster youth between the ages 18-24. Youth are supported with financial assistance, educational expenses, emotional support, life skills coaching, and referral to community resources to help them achieve the financial stability necessary to succeed in independent living.

DONATION SERVICES

Accepts donations of clothing, household textiles of all kinds, housewares, jewelry, furniture, lamps, kitchenware, antiques, bicycles, shoes, small appliances, china, glassware, electronic equipment in good condition including computers, knick knacks, linens, sporting equipment, cars and boats.

Does not accept donations of mattresses and bedding, older TVs, (more than five years old). Furniture that needs repair or reupholster, built-in appliances, plumbing fixtures, used building materials, water soaked or stained items, broken appliances, magazines, chemicals or paint.

ST. FRANCIS CATHOLIC KITCHEN

Runs a soup kitchen that offers hot meals to anyone in need. People of all faiths come to serve and be served at the Kitchen--the only place in Santa Cruz that serves a midday meal. Provides clothing on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during meal time. Also has a shower facility.

The Healthy Food program delivers weekly bags of fresh vegetables, fruits and healthy staples to 4,200+ Santa Cruz County seniors age 50+, families and farmworkers, distributes groceries on site and serves healthy meals from our commercial kitchen each weekday, and offers classes, support groups and annual luncheon events.
