TRANSITION AGE YOUTH
The Family & Children's Services Child Protective Services (CPS) provides protection for children who are at risk of or are victims of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, or emotional or physical neglect, with a focus on the safety of the child and support for parents to strengthen families and promote safe nurturing homes for children. We screen for and investigate reports of abuse, neglect, or harm, assess for safety and risk, and provides families with referrals to community resources. We also provide supportive services to children and families in their homes, provide out-of-home placement and permanency planning when necessary, and provide services to help foster youth transition into adulthood. Child protective services also provides educational workshops and trainings on identifying and preventing commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC), and how to engage/work with CSEC. HEALTHY MEAL DELIVERY PROGRAM
Teen Kitchen Project engages youth ages 14-18 as employees and volunteers in our healthy meal delivery program. Together with adult professional chefs, teens prepare dietitian approved meals that are delivered throughout Santa Cruz county.

The County Of Santa Cruz Human Services Department's Public Guardian manages the property, finances and personal care needs of county individuals who are substantially unable to provide for themselves. This is accomplished through conservatorships. If you are concerned about the well-being of an individual who is elderly and unable to provide for or manage their personal needs, or who is gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder and unable to provide for their basic necessities, you can make a referral to the Public Guardian to investigate the need for a conservator.

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS
Matches caring and responsible adults with children for one-to-one mentoring throughout Santa Cruz County, Monterey County & San Benito County. Program requires a minimum one-year commitment from Big, Little and the Little's caregiver. Children ages 7 and up are referred and paired with a carefully screened adult mentor through a matching process. Mentors are provided with training, support, and ongoing coaching from agency staff.
