HEALTHY FOOD PROGRAM

The organization delivers weekly bags of fresh vegetables, fruits, and healthy staples to 4,200 Santa Cruz County seniors age 50 , families, and farmworkers; distributes groceries on site; serves healthy meals each weekday; and offers classes, support groups, and annual luncheon events. Additionally, it operates donation drop-off points that accept new or secondhand clothing (including baby, children's, formal wear, general, shoe, and work clothing), food, gift cards, appliances, bedding, furniture, household goods, toys, glasses, cell phones, computers, tools, automobiles, and bicycles for redistribution or reuse. The organization also functions as a recycling center, collecting and processing batteries, electronic waste, and nonhazardous recyclable materials such as paper, glass, plastic, and aluminum.

SLUG SUPPORT

The UCSC Slug Support Program was created to promote early intervention with students of concern to prevent culminating problems from escalating into a crisis. The goal of the Slug Support Program is to identify students navigating difficult or challenging situations and assist them in resolving their concerns. Slug Support also has emergency food and housing resources for students as well as a financial assistance hardship fund for basic needs. Slug Support serves both undergraduate and graduate UCSC students.
