SENIOR PROGRAM
The Diversity Center provides a range of activities to engage LGBTQ+ older adults, including social gatherings, low-impact exercise, and luncheons. Our weekly Wisdom Workshops offer a welcoming space for elders to socialize, play games, receive tech support, attend gentle yoga classes, or connect with staff for additional support. Additional workshop topics include dementia prevention, elder abuse awareness, and ecological practices.
Key Programs:
Wisdom Workshops: A weekly offering for LGBTQ+ and allied older adults. Join us for different learning experiences including writing workshops, low-impact chair yoga, music bingo, special guest presentations, and more.
Rainbow Strollers: A weekly walking group for LGBTQ+ and allied older adults. This activity provides a fun, rewarding, non-judgmental experience for walkers with a focus on appropriate exercise, interaction, companionship, and enjoyment of nature. The walks are longer than 2 miles with breaks.
Men's and Women's Socials: LGBTQ+ men's and women's socials meet every other month starting in February, either at someone's home, for an outing, or at The Diversity Center. The socials are usually for two hours in the afternoon, though the time can vary.
Luncheon Socials: LGBTQ+ and allied older adult luncheons occur in January, April, September, and November. Luncheons feature food, beverages, entertainment, and engaging education on a relevant topic.

SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION
Processes claims for all Social Security programs. Provides continuing income to workers and their families in the case of retirement, disability or death. Accepts applications for Medicare. Individuals in need of cash and who are age 65 or over or who are blind or disabled, including blind and disabled children, may apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Accepts applications for original and duplicate Social Security cards. The Teleservice Center provides information about eligibility and the documents which must be submitted with the application.

YOUTH SERVICES
Provides daily supervised programs after school and all day during holidays and summer vacations. Full-time professional leadership is supplemented by part-time workers and volunteers. Offers programs in five areas of youth development; education and career development, leadership development, health and life skills, art and sports, and recreation. Youth Services: Academic Support, Health and Wellness, Social-Emotional Support, Youth Leadership
Stress Buters: Mindfulness Practices, Physical Activity, Supportive Relationships.
TRANSITION AGE YOUTH
The Family & Children's Services Transition Age Youth (TAY) program serves current and former foster youth age 15-24 with a range of services to assist youth in making a healthy transition to adulthood. Programs include counseling, skill-building, a drop-in center and subsidized supportive housing.
TAY programs include: . The Independent Living Program (ILP) serves current and former foster and probation placement youth age 15-21. It assists youth to develop independent living skills to successfully transition to self-sufficiency and includes services such as one-on-one counseling, assistance in obtaining ID cards, driving permits and licenses and workshops on topics that assist youth in achieving personal, education and vocational goals. . The Transitional Housing Program is a supportive housing program for former non-minor dependents and foster youth between the ages 18-24. Youth are supported with financial assistance, educational expenses, emotional support, life skills coaching, and referral to community resources to help them achieve the financial stability necessary to succeed in independent living. TRANSITION AGE YOUTH
The Family & Children's Services Child Protective Services (CPS) provides protection for children who are at risk of or are victims of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse, or emotional or physical neglect, with a focus on the safety of the child and support for parents to strengthen families and promote safe nurturing homes for children. We screen for and investigate reports of abuse, neglect, or harm, assess for safety and risk, and provides families with referrals to community resources. We also provide supportive services to children and families in their homes, provide out-of-home placement and permanency planning when necessary, and provide services to help foster youth transition into adulthood. Child protective services also provides educational workshops and trainings on identifying and preventing commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC), and how to engage/work with CSEC. THE FAMILY & CHILDREN'S SERVICES KINSHIP PROGRAM
The Family & Children's Services Kinship program is the temporary placement of children in a safe, nurturing family environment with relatives or extended family members, when their parents cannot care for them. If possible, foster children are returned to their birth families, or through adoption, placed permanently with another family. Kinship care provides 24-hour care until the child can be reunited with his/her parents or adopted by another family. Smart Choices is a summer program for girls entering high school. It inspires girls to make positive life choices about school, relationships, and health. Activities include: . Enjoying fun outdoor activities . Meeting girls from other schools in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz County . Attending fun and interactive workshops that focus on issues of concern to high school girls, including healthy relationships, health, peer pressure, self-image and esteem, healthy eating habits, and more...
WILL POWER/WON'T POWER
A series of workshops for girls ages 12-14 about assertive communication, healthy relationships, avoiding risky situations, developing sisterhood, and understanding female health and the reproductive system.
