The STAR program provides support to youth who are exiting Probation-based placements and returning to a family-based home environment. The program's vision is for youth to transition home successfully by engaging in school and/or work and avoid future justice system involvement.

Encompass STAR staff partner with Santa Cruz County Juvenile Probation, Positive Discipline, and Conflict Resolution Center to create robust transition plans and increase parental capacity to care for and address the needs of children involved in the justice system.

Encompass staff are bilingual and focus on the whole family. Linkages include mental health and drug/alcohol counseling, employment resources, academic support, and pro-social activities.

Early Head Start offers a home visiting program for pregnant women and children 0-3, and a center-base option for children 0-3 years. Both programs support children and families during the very first stages of life to build a strong foundation for growth and learning. Services are offered throughout Santa Cruz County, including Watsonville, Freedom, and the San Lorenzo Valley.

Head Start offers a part-day (3 1/2 hours) and extended day (6 hours) preschool programs for children ages 3 to 5. We focus on supporting children and families to be ready for school by providing opportunities for social and emotional growth; focusing on physical, mental, and dental health; and partnering closely with parents and families. Classes are offered at 16 centers located throughout Santa Cruz and Watsonville.

State Pre-K (CSPP) offers high quality early education and support services for eligible children 3-5 and their families.

Local support group provides weekly opportunities for family members and friends of people living with mental illness to explore ideas and solutions to the problems they experience dealing with a mental illness in their families or friends. Drop-ins welcome.

Provides comprehensive, strengths-based, culturally and linguistically appropriate behavioral health services for Medi-Cal eligible children and youth who have moderate to severe behavioral health needs.

Services include assessment, treatment planning, psychotherapy (individual, family), case management, and psychiatric care (evaluation and medication management). Services delivered at County behavioral health clinic locations, community, or home-based settings, as clinically appropriate.

The Access Team provides 24-hour confidential crisis intervention and referral services (800-952-2335).

Provides substance use disorder prevention, early intervention, and treatment services across the continuum of care.

We also work to increase the quality of care by offering training and technical assistance to child care providers in Santa Cruz County. Families are encouraged to make CDRC their first point of contact when looking for child care, preschool or other resources to support their child's development.

Helps families determine whether they qualify for child care payment assistance. Provides referrals to agencies that offer subsidized child care.

Offers child care providers a wealth of resources to help them obtain a license, maintain a successful business, increase the quality of their program or grow as professionals.
