The County of Santa Cruz Human Services Department's Public Guardian-Conservator Office manages the property, finances and personal care needs of county individuals who are substantially unable to provide for themselves. This is accomplished through conservatorships. If you are concerned about the well-being of an individual who is elderly and unable to provide for or manage their personal needs, or who is gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder and unable to provide for their basic needs, please contact the Public Guardian's Office for more information.

FOSTER CARE AND ADOPTION SERVICES

The Family & Children's Services Foster Care Program provides foster parent recruitment, licensing of relative caregiver and foster family homes, training and support for relative caregivers and foster families and enforcement of foster care regulations. The Adoptions Program places children who are unable to live safely with their birth family into permanent homes. We recruit and screen prospective adoptive parents, finalize adoptions, provide post-adoption services and provide services to birth parents who choose to voluntarily relinquish their parental rights. Provides comprehensive immigration legal services, consultations, and community advocacy. Assists with naturalization, citizenship applications, green cards, DACA renewals, work permits, and visa petitions. Offers specialized legal support for crime victims, human trafficking survivors, and juveniles.

CAB VICTIM/SURVIVOR OF CRIME SERVICES

Provides case management, systems navigation, and support groups for crime victims and survivors. Offers legal and immigration assistance, including U-Visa support, along with job search and rental assistance. Administers educational support, including tutoring and homework assistance.

ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES (APS)

The County of Santa Cruz Human Services Department's Adult Protective Services (APS) provides intervention services to protect elderly or dependent adults from abuse, neglect, or exploitation. We support older and disabled adults who may be experiencing physical assault or abuse, domestic and/or family violence, sexual assault or abuse, bullying (verbal, cyber, or physical), stalking, harassment, neglect, identity theft or fraud, financial crime or scams.

County APS agencies investigate reports of abuse of elder and dependent adults who live in private homes, apartments, hotels, hospitals, or who are, or soon will be, experiencing homelessness. We support older and disabled adults regardless of status-if you are experiencing homelessness; are an immigrant; identify as LBGTQIA+; are a Veteran, have a physical or mental disability; or if you have limited English language proficiency.

Courses are offered in teacher-directed classrooms with a blend of online, direct and individualized instruction. Online distance learning is available in combination with classroom instruction.

      Offers peers support groups, mentor parent program, information and resources to parents who have children with special needs to strengthen and empower their families and the professionals who serve them. Through parent volunteers and paid staff, they provide phone support, information, resource referrals, IEP clinics, educational workshops and networking events.       FOSTER, PROBATION, OR HOMELESS TEEN/YOUNG ADULT (15-24) SERVICES - ENCOMPASS TRANSITION AGE YOUTH (TAY) PROGRAM
